Original Painting
Entirely Acrylics on Gallery Wrapped Stretched Canvas
Finished Edges (1&1/2 inch deep)
This piece is made with cake decorating tips & thick acrylic paint to form its textures that makes the painting come alive with dimension. 3D bees with clearish wings bring buzzing excitement & color. Inspiration came from the 2019 superbloom at the Carrizo Plains with wavy road in the distance.
During Spring in the Carrizo Plains, there is an abundance of free-growing wildflowers of many kinds that become even more dense in numbers during a superbloom such as in 2019 with result of more rain than usual. It also brought many butterflies as well as tourists looking to capture just the right image. There's a wavy road out there near the hills that is fun to drive up & down that was incorporated into the painting.
Looking into the distance, it is a nice getaway to see nothing but mass of color. There are oil drills not far away & threats of this natural wonder not being here anymore. The wildflowers may fade for the season, but the painting will last. It brightens up the room & people feel their mood change to happy & more cheerful. By using pastry tips, thick paint, & dried on a separate surface, this allows the flower stems to cross over each other naturally as well as be easy placement into the painting. One 3D bee is about to land. The impasto sun carries you into a dream-like state.
