This Philodendron with frilly leaves started out as inspiration in Ruth's patio garden that had so many wonderful cool tropical summer colors to capture or also invent into the process of this exotic leaf. Dive into a refreshing pool of Mediterranean color Ruth used with the complimenting medium to lighter yellow-greens of the tropics, finished with a shimmer of white pearl in this impasto brushed leaf.
Formed over a non-stick surface, the skin of paint dries to be able to peel off and form an easy way to position on to the canvas with everything already worked out to perfection. This new style of painting enables great sculpted forms from acrylic paint alone to be created, or lower impasto like here, which really is a gigantic texture compared to the beginning texture of Van Gogh.
